Info and Rules

FAQ
WHAT'S THE STORY?

Lily Evans was killed on her wedding day, and Harry was never born. Voldie is in power, Death Eaters sitting pretty, muggle borns killed left and right. The Order is running an underground school system for muggleborns and thier kiddies. Want more? Premise.

HOW'S SOCIETY?

It might sound lame, but much like other HP games. Homosexuality is frowned upon in pureblood circles, women can wear jeans, and most people have to work. Purebloods are at the top of the food chain- they run the government, they get the big bucks, and they have the power. Muggleborns are seen as blights upon humanity.

Rules

DRAMA

RP drama is inevitable. However, this doesn't mean disputes can't be handled civilly between players. If players are unable to end a dispute between themselves, they should contact the moderator. Individuals that start drama will only be given one warning before being dismissed from the game on the second offense. The same is true of those who are found to be participating in and/or encouraging drama. There will be no exceptions - drama will not be tolerated here.

OOC/MARY SUES/GODMODDING

Players need to be sure they have a firm idea of their character's personality and the game's premise before applying. Likewise, players should make sure they're staying in character. Mary Sues/Gary Stus and godmodding are also not allowed. If any of the above is seen happening with a character, the player will receive two warnings before being removed from the game on the third offense.

SPELLING/GRAMMAR

Both spelling and grammar are important, so looking over your post before hitting submit never hurts. If you use Firefox, there should be an inline spellchecker already installed on your browser. With this, your browser will point out misspelled words as you type, à la Microsoft Word. This should successfully prevent a majority of spelling issues.

CHARACTER LIMIT

Players are currently only allowed 4 characters max (although this number is subject to change). Additionally, players cannot play two characters that would interact regularly. Players seeking additional characters must allow a one month between applying for a new characters, although an exception may be made for extremely active players.

ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Players are expected to post at least 1 journal entry every week and 2 threads monthly, as well as keep up with replies to other characters and threads.Activity checks will occur on Sunday every two weeks and a list will be put up on the OOC community listing journals that need to make a post or risk removal. Players who have not made a post or participated in a thread by the following Tuesday will be removed. Characters that make this list more than two times in a row (or continuously meet the bare minimum to resist removal) will be given a warning for not meeting activity requirements. After a warning, this character will be removed on the second offense.

HIATUSES

Hiatuses are allowed for up to one week. A hiatus lasting for more than a week (as well as constant hiatuses) must be discussed with a mod before hand. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made.

SHIPPING

Slash, het, and femmeslash are all permitted. However, there should be no tilt towards any particular orientation. Keep in mind if your character is anything other than heterosexual that they should be played as the setting requires. Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game.

PBS

PBs should be as close to canon as possible, although minor details (such as eye color) can be overlooked. Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character. Try here for a complete list of icon makers and tips for uploading multiple icons quickly or transferring icons to a new account.

PLOT

Plots should be created with the pervasive storyline in mind and the RPG should not be used solely for any one purpose (shipping, for example). Major plots (death, rape, and pregnancy) should be run by the mod.

JOURNALS

In our role play, journals are tangible, leather journals that people may buy at any wizarding bookstore. They range from high prices leather bound ones, to cheaper forms, so everyone can afford one. They are magically linked, et cetera. Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone unless stated otherwise. Strike-outs are readable and indicate text was marked out but is still able to be read. Bolded strike-outs, however, are not and represent text that has been scribbled out. Privated text should be formatted as follows, or very close in form:
[Private to Recipient's Name Here]

Text here.

[/Private]

It should always be assumed, unless stated otherwise, that if a private is not addressed to your character (s)he cannot "break into" the other characters' journal. Make sure to clarify the recipient(s) of a private addressed to certain characters. Saying something like "close friends" is too vague. Instead, list the names of those the private is addressed to. Established character groups (such as those on the character list), however, are acceptable.

THREADS

Thread headings should be formatted as follows:

Characters
: [Who's involved this scene.]
Setting
: [Where and when (morning, evening, between what events of the day) the scene is occurring.]
Content
: [For simplicity's sake, you can just use 'No Adult Content'/Worksafe or 'Adult Content'/Not Work Safe. Adult Content is, of course, graphic sex or violence. State which (graphic sex or violence) applies to a post labeled with Adult Content.] Summary: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, and etc.]

Also: TAG YOUR POSTS! Last Name, First Name form!
